Council approves assessments

FORT LORAMIE — Fort Loramie residents will have 30 days to pay sidewalk and curb assessments or the assessments will be put on taxes for five years.

That was the decision of the Fort Loramie Village Council during its Oct. 12 meeting. The assessmetns will be for West Main and Water streets improvements. The council first voted to suspend the three-reading rule and declare an emergency and then unanimously passed an ordinance levying $4.74 per square foot for sidewalks and $10.75 per linear foot for curb.

In other business, the council:

• Approved a final payment of $5,963.02 to Tom’s Construction for material and work completed for Elm, Water, W. Main and Middle streets improvements.

• Approved a donation to and deposit from Fort Loramie Boy Scouts for the Fort Loramie Veterans Monument.

• Gave second reading to an ordinance amending Village of Fort Loramie, Ohio Income Tax Ordinance 2001-916.

• Heard from the police chief that they will grill hot dogs instead of distributing candy during Trick-or-Treat, scheduled for Nov. 1 from 4 to 5:30 p.m.

• Heard reports by the mayor, village administrator, and Finance and Streets, Police and Safety, Parks and Planning Commission committees. Among the items discussed were the possiblity of buying police officers vests, ongoing work at Redskin Park, and the proposed annexation of property owned by Dan Wehrman.
