Sheriff’s log

THURSDAY

-12:38 p.m.: vandalism. Deputies investigated a report that the mailbox at 3244 River Road in Orange Township was hit with a baseball bat.

-9:42 a.m.: investigate complaint. Deputies investigated a scam complaint at 6119 Miller road in Cynthian Township.

-4:46 a.m.: suspicious person. Deputies were dispatched to 400 block of West Main Street in Franklin Township on the report a shirtless elderly man was walking westbound.

WEDNESDAY

-4:02 to 5:26 p.m.: investigate complaint. Deputies investigated two complaints at the Sheriff’s Office on Gearhart Road.

-3:50 p.m.: investigate complaint. Deputies investigated a scam complaint at 2255 Versailles Road in Loramie Township.

SATURDAY

-9:55 p.m.: warrant. William L. Hughes, 50, 106 N. Pomeroy Ave., Sidney, was arrested on an active warrant after deputies responded to a report a towed vehicle was in a ditch.

James E. Baldwin, 45, 310 N. Miami Ave., was towing a 1994 Chevrolet van with Hughes as his passenger, when as they were crossing a railroad at River Road, the hitch receiver on the 1977 Chevrolet van that was towing the newer van came completely out, causing the towed vehicle to go off the roadway and into a ditch.

Crashes

No one was cited after a two-vehicle crash on Sunday at 1:50 p.m.

Mark D. Henman, 57, 19110 Dingman Slagle Road, Sidney, was traveling southbound in the 7000 block of Johnston Slagle Road when his vehicle’s driver’s side mirror and the driver’s side mirror of the northbound vehicle on Johnston Slagle Road that was driven by Jason A. Davidson, 46, 12771 Sharp Road, Sidney, struck each other.

• Lloyd D. Keith, 42, of Russells Point, was cited with failure to control after a one-vehicle crash on Sunday at 2:14 a.m.

Keith was traveling eastbound on state Route 119 approaching Shroyer Road when he swerved to avoid a deer and drove off the north side of the roadway, sideswiped a Pioneer utility pole and then became struck in a ditch before being towed from the scene by Howell’s Towing.

• David Michael Weirauch, 32, 102 Cherry Lane, Anna, was cited with a stop light or stop sign violation after a two-vehicle crash on Saturday at 8:41 a.m.

Weirauch was traveling southbound on Pike Street when he failed to stop for the red light at the Main Street intersection and struck the eastbound vehicle on Main Street in the intersection that was driven by Jay Winner, 50, of Lewistown.

• Shonnon Russell Wooten II, 21, of Piqua, was cited with assured clear distance ahead after a two-vehicle crash on Friday, Nov. 9, at 6:37 p.m.

Wooten was traveling eastbound in the 18,000 block of state Route 274 when he failed to maintain assured clear distance and rear-ended the stopped vehicle in front of him waiting to turn into a private drive.

The other vehicle was driven by Andrew J. Hendrixson, 64, of West Chester.

Fire, rescue

THURSDAY

-10:50 p.m.: medical. Perry Port Salem Rescue responded to the 5800 block of state Route 29 in Perry Township.

-8:55 a.m.: fire. Lockington Fire responded to 479 Cross Trail in Washington Township on the report a power pole was sparking.

-6:26 a.m.: crash. Anna Rescue and Botkins Fire responded to mile marker 106 on Interstate 75 in Auglaize County on the report of a one-vehicle crash with injuries.

-1:16 am.: medical. Anna Rescue responded to Auglaize County for a medical call.
