SIDNEY — A Sidney woman was charged with felonious assault following an altercation Sunday morning.

Melissa Olds, 48, of 523 1/2 N. Miami Ave., was arrested and charged with the second-degree felony. She is being held in the Shelby County Jail and will appear in Sidney Municipal Court at 9 a.m. Monday, June 29.

According to the Sidney Police Department, officers and medics were dispatched at 8:57 a.m. to 523 1/2 N. Miami Ave., on a report of a fight and someone being stabbed.

The officers located a 27-year-old man, who is an occupant of the residence, sitting on the back steps with knife wounds to his face. Olds was located near the residence and taken into custody.

During the initial stages of the investigation, it was learned that the victim’s knife wounds were the result of a verbal argument between he and Olds that escalated. The victim was transported to Wilson Memorial Hospital by Sidney Fire and Rescue for treatment of his wounds.
