BOTKINS — No one was injured in a house fire Saturday morning at 1:29 a.m. at 9046 Hardin Pike Road.

According to Botkins Fire Chief Pat Fullenkamp, one resident was out of the residence when firefighters arrived on the scene.

“The house was a total loss,” said Fullenkamp. “It’s not a suspicious fire. We think it was caused by a heating source.”

Responding to the scene, in addition to Botkins Fire, were Anna Rescue, Anna Fire, Jackson Center Fire, Van Buren Township Fire, New Bremen Fire and New Knoxville Fire. The Van Wert Chapter of the American Red Cross and the family assisted at the scene with coffee for the firefighters. The Red Cross is also assisting the family.

The Ohio Department of Transportation, said Fullenkamp, provided salt trucks to salt down the area where water was spreading from the firefighters’ hoses. DP&L was also on the scene.

Firefighters, said Fullenkamp, were on the scene until 6 a.m.
