Churches hold Christian unity service

BOTKINS — The Botkins Ministerial Association hosted a service for Christian unity Sunday afternoon.

One of the most touching moments occurred when those in attendance were invited to come forward into the sanctuary, where they took a pinch of salt and tasted it, touched blessed water to their foreheads, and lighted a candle, event organizers said. In this way, they demonstrated their common baptism and their desire to be salt and light for the world. Attendees then encircled the sanctuary of the church for the latter part of the service.

Held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the service was also hosted by Botkins United Methodist Church, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, and St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
