Many helped make event a success

To the editor:

On behalf of the 11th Annual Turkey Trot 5K Planning Committee, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the supporters of this community event. Because of the support of the city of Sidney, many businesses, churches, local schools, and individuals, over 6,000 pounds of food was donated to the Alpha Community Center. This food will be used to stock their emergency food bank. In addition, a monetary donation will be given to them to be used to restock the food pantry when the food donations have been depleted.

I would also like to thank those people who volunteered their time organizing the event, as well as those who provided the manpower to help make it all happen. The success of this event is only possible because of the hard work and dedication of so many people in our community. It is a blessing to live and to work in such a community where people not only recognize a need, but then take the next step and join hands and hearts to strengthen and improve the lives of others.

The food has been delivered, the turkey suit is in the closet, and we can give thanks that so many lives will be touched by Turkey Trot 2017. See you all for the 12th Annual Turkey Trot on Thursday, Nov. 22, 2018.
