Loramie, Anna girls remain unbeaten

SIDNEY — Fort Loramie stayed unbeaten with a 70-19 rout of Fairlawn in County girls basketball action Saturday at Fairlawn.

The Lady Redskins are 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the County. Fairlawn is 0-5 and 0-3.

Loramie rolled to a 23-4 lead after one quarter and stretched it to 43-12 at the half.

Holly Frey poured in 13 points in the opening quarter and went on to finish with 20. Jessica Boerger had 17 points and eight steals, and Katy Hoying and Reyan Frey both finished with nine points. All of R. Frey’s points came on three-pointers.

For Fairlawn, Audrey Francis finished with 12 points and seven steals.

Anna 60, Russia 46

RUSSIA — Anna also remained unbeaten on the year at 4-0 and is now 3-0 in County play after a 60-46 victory over Russia Saturday on the road.

The Russia girls are now 2-2 and 1-1.

“It was a great game,” said Anna coach Doug Martin. “Russia may be young but they are a good ball team that will surprise some teams. Macey Huelskamp had a great game but we played good team ball.”

Huelskamp had a big-time double-double, scoring 20 points for the Lady Rockets and pulling down 25 rebounds. A six-foot sophomore, Huelskamp hit half of her 18 shots from the field, and 13 of her rebounds came at the offensive end.

Nicole Barhorst added 10 points.

For Russia, Tiffany Hatcher had 13, Maria Herron 12 and Jenna Cordonnier 11.

Houston 56, Botkins 49

BOTKINS — Houston and Botkins had a good one in County girls play Saturday, with Houston coming away with a 56-49 victory.

Houston is now 2-4 overall and 1-1 in County play. Botkins is 2-3 and 0-3.

Botkins led after a quarter but Houston took a seven-point halftime lead and maintained it.

The Lady Wildcats got 20 points from Jenna Winner and 14 from Macey Stang, who was 9-for-11 from the free throw line,

Kayla Heuker of Botkins had a big game, finishing with 22 points. Jenna Pitts and Paige Lane both added 11.

New Knoxville 44, Lehman 21

SIDNEY — After leading just 8-6 after a quarter, New Knoxville opened up a 19-8 lead at the half and cruised to a 44-21 victory over Lehman in non-league girls basketball Saturday at Lehman.

The Lady Rangers go to 3-2 and Lehman falls to 2-3.

Kenzie Schroer had 17 and led the second-quarter pullaway with three three-pointers in that period. She finished with five threes for the game.

Rachel Leffel added 11 points.

For Lehman, Kassie Lee finished with 11.

VERSAILLES — Versailles snapped a two-game slide with a 66-61 victory over previously unbeaten Miami Valley School in non-league action Saturday at Versailles.

The win also moved the Lady Tigers over the .500 mark at 4-3 on the year.

Versailles was down 13-10 after one, but outscored MV 36-28 in the middle to quarters to gain control.

Kami McEldowney had 15 for Versailles, Lauren Monnin 14 and Danielle Winner 12.

Versailles hit 14 of 20 free throw attempts in the final period.
