Volleyball: 13 area players earn all-state recognition

A plethora of area volleyball players have earned all-state recognition. The Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association released all-state teams on Monday.

Jackson Center senior middle hitter Raquel Kessler and New Bremen junior outside hitter Macy Puthoff were named first team all-Ohio in Division IV.

Kessler led the Tigers with 460 kills and 35 blocks and was second on the team with 34 aces. Puthoff has 168 kills, 60 blocks and 34 aces to her credit entering New Bremen’s Div. IV state semifinal against Monroeville, which will be Thursday at Wright State.

New Bremen senior middle hitter Rachel Kremer, Lehman Catholic junior middle blocker Olivia Lucia and Russia senior middle hitter Laurissa Poling were named second team. Russia senior setter Jenna Cordonnier and New Knoxville senior outside hitter Tasia Lauth were named third team.

Kremer has 178 kills, 43 aces and 48 blocks. Lucia led Lehman with 334 kills and 65 blocks and was second on the team with 40 aces. Poling led Russia with 296 kills and 89 blocks and had 33 aces. Cordonnier led the Raiders with 756 assists and had 246 digs and 51 blocks. Lauth led New Knoxville with 289 kills and had 31 blocks.

Fort Loramie junior outside hitter Marissa Meiring, Lehman senior setter Alexis Snipes and Jackson Center senior libero Katelyn Sosby were named honorable mention.

Meiring led Fort Loramie with 248 kills and 31 aces and had 257 digs. Snipes led Lehman with 774 assists and had 189 digs. Sosby had 300 digs and 408 serve receptions.

Versailles senior and four-year varsity player Elizabeth Ording was named second team in Div. III. Ording has 353 kills, 33 aces and 71 blocks to her credit for Versailles, which will play Tuscarawas Valley in a D-III state semifinal on Thursday.

Anna senior middle hitter Emma Meyer was named third team in Div. III. Meyer led the Rockets with 368 kills and 98 blocks and had 39 aces. Anna senior setter Lexi Wells, who led Anna with 42 aces and 894 assists, was named honorable mention.
