SIDNEY — As expected, the unbeaten Sidney Lady Jackets had no trouble with Piqua in Greater Western Ohio Conference North Division action Wednesday at the high school, rolling to a 52-18 victory to remain undefeated on the season.
The Lady Jackets are now 12-0 on the year and go to 2-0 in the GWOC North, with Trotwood coming to the SHS gym on Saturday for another North test.
Piqua drops to 0-3 in the North and 2-11 on the year.
“We took advantage early and took an 11-0 start after the first quarter,” said Sidney coach Megan Mummey. “I was happy with the way we bounced back from Monday’s battle with Houston. We distributed the ball well and held Piqua to only 18 points.”
The Lady Jackets allowed the Lady Indians just four points in the first half, and that continued into the third quarter, with Piqua managing to add just two more points to its total.
Sylvia Hudson had her way inside for the Lady Jackets, pouring in 23 points. After scoring 10 in the first half, she had nine in the third quarter.
Kaitlyn Davis finished with 13 and got the Lady Jackets off to a good start with seven of the 11 first-quarter points. Celena Taborn added 12 points for Sidney.

NEW KNOXVILLE — The New Knoxville girls raised their record to 7-4 and kept Waynesfield winless on the year with a 55-25 victory in action Tuesday night.
The Lady Rangers only led 21-12 at the half before dominating the final two quarters.
Jenna Schwieterman had 16 for Knoxville, Rachel Leffel 11 and Abby Lageman 10. Leffel was 5 for 6 from the free throw line.
