MAUMEE — Sidney and Versailles both competed in the Maumee Bay Wrestling Classic over the weekend, with Versailles 11th out of 30 teams with an even 100 points, and the Yellow Jackets placing 22nd with 65 points.

Sidney had two wrestlers place in the top eight, led by Javon Purk at 195 pounds. He was fourth, losing in the match for third and fourth to Kyle Gigandet of Versailles, 9-3. Purk is now 23-6 and Gigandet 27-5.

Jac Beatty of Sidney was seventh at 285, winning in the match for seventh/eighth with a 7-3 decision that put his record on the year at 20-6.

Corey Dieringer of Versailles placed sixth at 160.

Lehman

CINCINNATI _ Lehman also wrestled in a huge tournament, competing in the 55th annual Catholic Invitational at Cincinnati Elder High School Saturday and Sunday.

There were 29 teams in the tournament, and Lehman finished with 22 points.

Junior Wyatt Long won two matches at 182 pounds and lost his third match by a 2-0 score.

Brandon Simmons at 145 also won two matches, and Jake Earhart at 170 pounds won one match.

Lehman will return to action this week at Dayton Northridge tonight and at the State Team Duals in Marion next Wednesday.
