Staff report

MINSTER — Minster High School announced that it has filled the coaching vacancy left when longtime head boys coach Mike Lee stepped down after 23 years recently.

Lee’s assistant coach, Mike McClurg, will take over as head man of the Wildcats, pending approval by the Minster Board of Education.

McClurg is a graduate of Versailles High School and went on to attend Thomas More College, where he continued his basketball career. He has been an assistant coach at Minster for the past three seasons.

McClurg has some big shoes to fill. Lee resigned as the winningest boys basketball coach ever at Minster, with 314 victories. His team won 12 sectional titles and six district championships.

McClurg takes over after a 13-10 finish this past season.

He is currently the president of Forty-Nine Degrees Experience Design in Coldwater.
