Tuesday roundup: Bad 5th inning dooms Fort Loramie at Marion Local

MARIA STEIN — A bad fifth inning proved costly for Fort Loramie in an 8-3 loss to Marion Local on Tuesday.

The Redskins scored one run in the top of the fifth to tie it, but the Flyers scored five runs on five walks and two hits in the bottom half to pull away.

Ty Ruhenkamp was charged with the loss. He pitched 1 2/3 innings and gave up five earned runs on five walks and one hit while striking out two batters.

Logan Eilerman was 2 for 3 at the plate for the Redskins (3-2). Karson Tennery was 1 for 2. Ruhenkamp and Owen Pleiman each hit one double. Evan Eilerman stole two bases.

Fort Loramie had eight hits and didn’t commit any errors. Marion Local had five hits and didn’t commit any errors.

The Flyers drew 11 walks during the game; the Redskins didn’t draw any.

Coldwater 5, Russia 4

Coldwater’s Reece Dellinger hit a solo home run in the top of the seventh to break a tie, and the Raiders didn’t come back in a nonconference loss on Tuesday.

Ross Fiessinger was charged with the loss for Russia (3-2). He pitched three innings and gave up one earned run on three hits.

Grant Saunders was 2 for 3 with one double. Brayden Monnin was 1 for 1 with two walks and one double. Brayden Monnin hit one double.

Coldwater had 10 hits and didn’t commit an error. Russia had five hits and committed one error.

Houston 11, Fairlawn 1

The Wildcats won a Shelby County Athletic League game in five innings on Tuesday in Houston.

Elijah Beaver picked up the win on the mound for Houston (1-3, 1-2). He pitched a complete game and gave up one earned run on five hits and six walks while striking out four batters.

Devin Barker was 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs for Houston. Xavier Ludwig and Jake Leist each had 2 RBIs and one triple.

Connor France was charged with the loss for Fairlawn (0-6, 0-2). He pitched four innings and gave up eight hits and two walks while striking out six batters.

Joseph Bernardi was 2 for 2 with one walk while Kyle Orndorff was 1 for 1 with two walks. Dominic Davis was 1 for 2 with one walk.

Houston had eight hits and committed one error while Fairlawn had five hits and committed two errors.

Minster 12, Jackson Center 8

Minster scored six runs in the fifth to put away the Tigers in a nonconference game on Tuesday in Minster.

Alex Schmitmeyer picked up the win on the mound for Minster (4-1). He pitched five innings and gave up five hits while striking out five batters.

Logan Kohne was 2 for 3 with three runs, one double and one walk. Chase Crouse was 2 for 2 with three runs and two walks. Johnny Nixon was 1 for 1 with 3 RBIs, one double and three walks. Zach Fortman was 2 for 4. Nathan Beair hit one double.

Kaleb Minnich was charged with the loss for Jackson Center (2-3). He pitched three innings and gave up six earned runs on four hits and five walks while striking out two batters.

Bryson Roberts was 2 for 4 with three runs and one walk, Jace Mullenhour was 2 for 4 with 3 RBIs, Noah Francis was 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs and Eli Butcher was 2 for 5.

Minster had 11 hits and committed seven errors while Jackson Center had nine hits and committed one error.

Botkins 25, Yellow Springs 13

The Trojans won a shootout in five innings on Tuesday in Botkins.

Jaydon Wendel picked up the win on the mound. He pitched three innings and gave up six hits and three walks while striking out four batters.

Wendel was 2 for 3 with three runs, 3 RBIs and one double. Preston Free was 1 for 2 with 2 RBIs, Brant Metz was 1 for 2 with 2 RBIs and three walks.

Isaac Cisco was 1 for 1 with four walks, three runs and 2 RBIs. Carson Motter was 1 for 1 with five runs, 2 RBIs and three walks.

The Trojans had nine hits and committed five errors while Yellow Springs had eight hits and committed one error.

Botkins drew 20 walks while Yellow Springs drew seven.

The Flyers scored the first five runs, and Fort Loramie couldn’t mount a comeback in a nonconference loss on Tuesday in Fort Loramie.

Lauren Bergman was charged with the loss for Fort Loramie (3-4). She pitched two innings and gave up three hits and two walks.

Bergman was 2 for 3 with one walk. Laney Barhorst was 1 for 1 with one double and two walks.

Fort Loramie had five hits and committed six errors while Marion Local had 10 hits and committed two errors.

Minster 11, Jackson Center 1

The Wildcats won a nonconference game in five innings on Tuesday in Minster.

Gabrielle Wehrman picked up the win in the circle for Minster. She pitched five innings and gave up one earned run on three hits and two walks while striking out eight batters.

Lyndi Hemmelgarn was 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs, one double one walk for Minster (4-1). Mikaela Hoskins was 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs. Jenna Schulze was 2 for 2 with 2 RBIs. Alayna Prenger and Emma Goubeaux each hit one double.

Riley Barhorst was charged with the loss for Jackson Center (1-3). She pitched three innings and gave up five earned runs on seven hits and two walks.

The Wildcats had 12 hits and didn’t commit an error. Jackson Center had three hits and committed two errors.
