ANNA — The Anna Lady Rockets made a case for being included in the Miami Valley Soccer Coaches Poll Tuesday, upsetting the Miami East Lady Vikings in non-league action at Anna, 2-1.

The unranked Lady Rockets are now 8-1 on the season, and their win ended a four-game winning streak for Miami East, which is ranked fifth in Division 3 and now owns a 6-4 record.

“Considering how high they were ranked, this was a great win for us,” said Anna head coach Jim Hague. “It was a hard-fought game, but our kids played well and I thought we outhustled them.”

All the goals came in the first half, and Anna scored twice before the Lady Vikings got on the board.

The first goal came with 23:23 left in the first half on a corner kick. Alexis Phillips sent the ball in and Emily Albers was able to get it in the net for a 1-0 lead.

Another corner kick, this one by Holly Boyd, resulted in a goal by Raquel Bollheimer to make it 2-0.

Anna goalie Kristin Grimes came away with seven saves.
