Sidney golfers shave 31strokes off in GWOC

ARCANUM — The Sidney boys golf team shaved 31 strokes off its score at the same golf course back on Aug. 7, and it placed them 14th overall and fourth in the North in the Greater Western Ohio Conference Golf Tournament, held Thursday at Beechwood in Arcanum.

The Yellow Jackets, who shot a 392 in the GWOC “preseason” tournament in August, shot a 361 to finish behind Vandalia and Troy in the North. They tied Piqua, but lost on the fifth scorecard by two strokes.

Cole Cartwright led Sidney with an 86, Jared Lindsey shot an 88, Zane Walker 89 and Spencer Karn 98. The last three are all sophomores.

The team now turns its attention to the Division 1 sectional coming up on Oct. 6.
