WAPAKONETA — Minster scored in every inning, taking advantage of 11 New Bremen errors in beating its neighboring rival by a surprising 19-5 score in the Wapakoneta Division 4 District Softball Tournament Wednesday at Wapak.

The Lady Wildcats, the No. 3 seed, upped their record to 17-10 with the win and will now face top-seeded Parkway on Friday in the district finals at Wapak at 5 p.m.

New Bremen, the No. 2 seed, bows out with a final 16-5 record.

Minster jumped on New Bremen for four runs in the top of the first and never let up.

Leading 7-0, Minster watched as New Bremen broke through with three runs in the third. But the Lady Wildcats responded with four in the top of the fourth, then exploded for eight more in the top of the fifth.

The game ended after five on the 10-run rule.

Danielle Barhorst and Karly Richard both had three hits for the Lady Wildcats and Emma Schmiesing added two.

Taylor Homan drove in four runs and both Emma and Alice Schmiesing drove in three for the Lady Wildcats.

Jenna Poeppelman pitched the distance for Minster, striking out seven and allowing nine hits to the Lady Cardinals.

Russia 20, Botkins 0

BOTKINS — Russia completed a perfect County softball season with a 20-0 blanking of Botkins in the season finale for both teams Wednesday.

The Lady Raiders finish 12-0 in the league and 20-7 overall. Botkins ends up 1-11 and 1-19.

Lexi Monnin had three singles and a double for Russia and Maria Herron two singles and a double.
