Lehman wraps up outrightconference championship

SIDNEY — The Lehman Lady Cavs took care of Lima Temple Christian in three straight Thursday night, and it ended the Northwest Central Conference season with a perfect 7-0 record and the outright league title.

The scores were 25-11, 25-12, 25-15, and it gave Lehman a 15-7 overall record heading into Division 4 sectional tournament play on Tuesday at Tipp City. Lehman is the No. 3 seed and playsNo. 21 seed Mississinawa at 6 p.m. in first-round action.

In winning Thursday, Lehman kept its streak up of never having lost a conference match. Lehman won the 2014 championship at 7-0, and the 2013 title at 6-0.

Sidney Chapman, still just a junior, had another big night at the net with 23 kills and that put her over 1,000 for her career. She now has 1,015.

Madeline Smith handed out 33 assists, and Chapman, Smith and Marianne Hissong all served three aces.

Lady Jackets end

with tourney win

The Sidney High volleyball team ended regular-season play on a high note, beating West Carrollton in the Greater Western Ohio Conference tournament, 3-0.

The scores were 28-26, 25-19, 25-9 and the win gave the Lady Jackets a 9-13 record heading into sectional play at Centerville Monday against Springfield at 6 p.m.

Kiana Calvert hurt West Carrollton from the service line, finishing with six aces for Sidney. Carrie Nuss added three.

Amanda Thomas pounded down 10 kills and also had three solo blocks. Grace Shell and Adrienna Cook added seven kills apiece.

Nuss also had 26 assists, Shell had 12 digs and Lambdin 10 digs.

The junior varsity finished their season at 16-6 with a 25-16, 25-14 win over West Carrollton.

Alana Kindle had five aces and six kills, and Arielle Snider had four kills. Jada Rowland had three solo blocks, Maddie White 10 assists and Payton Boshears eight digs.

Minster loses MAC

match to Marion

Minster dropped a Midwest Athletic Conference match to Marion Local by a 3-1 score in a close battle.

Minster, 13-9 overall and a final 4-5 in the MAC, won the first game 26-24, but dropped the next three 25-20, 25-22, 25-23. Marion is now 13-7.

Rosie Westerbeck, Jordyn Heitbrink and Hannah Schmitmeyer had 11, 11 and 10 kills, respectively, for the Lady Wildcats, and Hayley Baumer dished out 42 assists.

LeAnn Huelsman had a team-high 17 digs, Heitbrink 13, and Baumer and Schmitmeyer 10 apiece.

Lady Rangers win

over Fort Recovery

New Knoxville upped its record to 13-9 overall with a 3-1 win over Fort Recovery, the scores being 25-17, 25-13, 22-25, 25-20.

The Lady Rangers finish 4-5 in the Midwest Athletic Conference.

Rachel Leffel had 14 kills and Madison Lammers 12 for Knoxville. Leffel also had 15 digs and Lammers 12.

Kenzie Schroer had 42 assists, five kills and two aces, Abby Lageman had 29 digs and Ashlyn Miller 11. Shayna Bierlein had six kills and Caitlin Lammers five.

Knoxville also won the junior varsity game 25-19, 14-25, 25-16.

Riverside falls

in league finale

Riverside lost in its league and regular-season final Thursday, 3-0 to Hardin Northern, which finished runner-up in the final conference standings.

Marissa Davis had 10 kills and 24 digs to lead the Lady Pirates. Alexis Snow added 14 assists.
