Lehman fares well in NWCC meet

MCGUFFEY — Lehman fared well in the Northwest Central Conference meet held on Saturday at Upper Scioto Valley.

The Lehman girls won the league title by default — Lehman was the only school with a full girls team.

Of the 21 runners in the girls varsity race, ten of them were Lady Cavs, including the top three. Caroline Heitmeyer wonm the race in 21:15, Jenna Zimmerman was second in 21:35 and Alana O’Leary third in 2:38.

Three other runners made the top ten in Maria Schmiesing, Claire Schmiesing and Janelle Gravunder. M. Schmiesing was eighth, C. Schmiesing ninth and Gravunder 10th.

Emily Teague of Riverside finished sixth.

In the boys competition, there were four schools with enough to figure in the team standings, and Lehman placed third behind champion Waynesfield and Upper Scioto. The Cavs had 48, just six off the winner’s total.

Isaiah Winhoven led Lehman by placing second in 18:43, and was one of three Cavaliers in the top ten. Brandon Simmons was fifth and Malachi Bezy eighth. Elias Bezy came in 16th andB lake Leffel was 22nd.

• In junior high action, Lehman’s Andrew Wiseman placed third in 18:13 in the boys race, and Sophie Rattermanb was fourth in the girls race. Riverside’s Madison Bell placed sixth.
