“Blue Jay” Coverstone, the official dog catcher, is again on the job and he says that he intends to capture all the dogs that do not carry the official dog tag for 1915 issued by the city auditor. He has erected kennels on the property owned by the city opposite Graceland cemetery and already has captured several stray dogs. He also has built a dog pen which he drives about the city in a spring wagon. When he captures a dog, he puts it in the pen and heads for the kennels.

Judging by his popularity in a short two-year stay in Sidney, it’s almost like losing the head coach all over again. When Kevin Fell accepted the job recently at Lakewood High School near Cleveland, most felt it was only a matter of time before defensive coordinator Jim Slagle, who came to Sidney with Fell, joined him. And it turns out they were right. Fell confirmed Thursday night that the Sidney assistant had signed Tuesday with the Lakewood School system, leaving another void in the Sidney High staff. Fell announced his resignation in early June after leading the Yellow Jackets into the Division II state semifinals a year ago. Slagle could have had the head coaching job for the asking.
