SIDNEY — The Sidney-Shelby Health Department Immunization Program will now accept children and adults who have private insurance.

The Ohio Department of Health requires that kindergarten students receive diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, polio, measles, mumps, rubella and chickenpox vaccines, and that seventh-grade students receive etanus, diphtheria and pertussis vaccines before the start of school. It is also recommended that seventh-grade students receive meningitis and human papilloma virus vaccines.

Parents of kindergarten and seventh-grade students in need of vaccines for school should call 498-7249 for appointments now while there are slots available. Appointment slots will fill quickly as the school start date approaches.

Parents should take their children’s health insurance cards and immunization health records to their scheduled appointments.
