GULF OF MEXICO — After a journey of 2,340 miles (give or take a few miles), three tired adventurers from Ohio reached their goal Monday evening.
Forrest Schoessow, 25, of Sidney, Shea Selsor, 25, of Piqua, and Alex Ross, 26, of Sidney/New Orleans, paddled the final 93 miles of their trip down the Mississippi River Sunday and Monday. They had arrived in New Orleans Saturday to the cheers of their families and friends. They departed New Orleans Sunday, with their families following in vehicles, to reach their goal.
“We just got into the Gulf,” reported Ross Monday night around 7:30 p.m. “We’ve put all our stuff into the truck and are heading back to New Orleans.”
Their adventure began May 20 in Lake Itasca, Minnesota, and ended July 27 in the Gulf of Mexico.
The final story about their trip will be published in the Monday, Aug. 3, newspaper.
