Auxiliary sends delegates to Girls State

SIDNEY — The Sidney American Legion Auxiliary sent four delegates to Buckey Girls State at the University of Mount Union in Alliance in June.

Four alternate delegates were also selected by the auxiliary.

Attending the week-long program designed to educate Ohio’s young women in the duties, privileges, rights and responsibilities of good citizenship were Logan Schultz, of Sidney High School, Hannah Renner, of Christian Academy Schools, and Emily Reinhart and Claudia Fatone, both of Lehman Catholic High School.

The alternates were Allison Hall, Sara Fuller and Caroline Heitmeyer, all of Lehman Catholic High School, and Ariana Grisham, of Sidney High School.

By getting involved in the process, Buckeye Girls State delegates learned about city, county and state government. They became citizens of their own states, members of a political party, ran for elected office and dealt with affairs of government at all levels.
