SIDNEY — Sidney evened its record on the young season at 1-1 with a 25-14, 25-15, 25-22 victory over Emmanuel Christian in high school volleyball action at Sidney Middle School Tuesday night.

The Lady Jackets had a balanced attack. Amanda Thomas had seven kills, Adrienna Cook six, Alexis Doyle five and Ally Spangler four.

McKenzie Lambdin and Emily Tolbert both had three aces, and Lambdin led in digs with seven.

Grace Shell finished with 13 assists and Kiana Calvert added 11.

The junior varsity team won 25-11, 25-16.

Maddie White served eight aces and Payton Boshears had five ace serves. White also had 10 assists.

Sidney hosts Xenia Thursday.

Loramie beats Minster

MINSTER — Fort Loramie made the short trip to Minster and came away with a 25-10, 25-17, 23-25, 25-19 win over the Lady Wildcats to even its record on the year at 2-2.

“We came out strong and showed what we’re capable of,” said coach John Rodgers. “To Minster’s credit, they never backed down and made us earn every point. Even though we played Saturday, there is nothing like your home opener.”

Caleigh Barhorst had 22 kills to Loramie, Sara Stang added seven and Maeve Hilgefort five.

Maddi Brandewie finished with 41 assists, Taylor Ernst had 25 digs, Stang 16 and Barhorst 14.

For Minster, Jordyn Heitbrink had nine kills, Katie Wuebker six and Hayley Baumer five. Hannah Schmitmeyer had a good game, finishing with 12 digs, six blocks and two aces. Wuebker also had 15 assists and Baumer 13.

Fairlawn stats

Fairlawn defeated Sidney in its season opener Tuesday, as reported in Wednesday’s paper.

Audrey Francis had 18 kills and 21 digs, Mollie Roe had nine kills, 10 digs and two solo blocks, Paige Vondenheuvel had eight kills, Chelsie Brautigam had 34 assists and Rebecca Wilson added 10 digs.
