ARCANUM — It was an excellent day for Shelby County in the Division 3 Boys Sectional Golf Tournament, held at Beechwood in Arcanum Tuesday.

The top four teams plus four individuals not on qualifying teams advanced from the sectional to the district, which is set for Oct. 8 at Weatherwax in Middletown.

Of the top four finishers, three are from the Shelby County League, including sectional champion Russia, runnerup Fort Loramie, and fourth-place Fairlawn.

The Raiders finished with a 334 and were led by Jonah Counts with an 81. Zach Sherman had an 82, Connor Monnin 84 and Dylan Cordonnier 87. Jack Dapore finished with a 90.

Fort Loramie’s Brad Gottemoeller shot an even-par 72 to lead Fort Loramie and share medalist honors with Caleb Westfall of Mechanicsburg. Gottemoeller started the back nine with a 35, and finished with a 37 for his score.

Also for the Redskins, who had a 337, Tanner Rosengarten shot an 86, Connor Rose 89, and Aaron Schwartz 90. Craig Eilerman added a 92.

“That is Brad’s low 18-hole score for the season and it couldn’t have come at a better time,” said Loramie coach Brad Turner. “I was really pleased with Tanner and Aaron. They had big scores on their first nine holes, Tanner a 46 and Aaron a 49. But they both got it together on their second nines and finished very well.”

Mechanicsburg, which had two sub-80 scores, was third with 342, and grabbing the No. 4 qualifying spot was Fairlawn, the Jets shooting a 350.

Mason Jones, Nathan Lessing and Jacob Caldwell all shot 86 for the Jets and Kyle Noble came in with a 92.

In addition to the team qualifiers, two more Shelby Countians advanced as individuals. Lehman’s Tyler Lachey shot an 83 and Josh Miller of Botkins shot an 84. The fourth and final qualifier was Nathan Osborn of TV South, who was tied for the fourth spot with Jackson Center’s Drew Sosby. Osborn won a playoff for the final spot.
