TIPP CITY — The third-seeded Lehman Lady Cavaliers cruised past Tri-Village with ease Thursday in Division 4 Sectional semifinal volleyball action at Tipp City.

The Lady Cavs won 3-0, with the scores being 25-6, 25-7, 25-13. The win put them at 17-7 on the season and matched them up against Springfield Catholic Saturday at 4:30 at Tipp. The winner advances to the district Oct. 31 at Troy.

Springfield Catholic is the team that ended Lehman’s streak of 21 consecutive district titles by beating the Lady Cavs in the sectional finals. Springfield is the No. 7 seed.

“We have a lot of young teams on the team,” said Lehman coach Greg Snipes. “But for the seniors and juniors, I think they look foreward to playing Springfield Catholic. We want to go deeper in the tournament this year.”

Sidney Chapman was again the main weapon for Lehman, finishing with 13 kills and nine ace serves against the overmatched Lady Patriots. Madeline Smith had 26 assists and five kills, and Marianne Hissong added five kills.

“One of the things we talked about was not letting down tonight and I thought we did a good job of that,” Snipes said. “We told the girls they had a couple matches to work their way into the tournament. Now we’re going to see the higher seeds and better teams. We’re going to have to be more focused and ready.”

Lady Redskins

TIPP CITY — The No. 4-seeded Fort Loramie Lady Redskins rolled into the sectional finals Wednesday night with another easy win in Division 4 sectional tournament play at Tipp City.

The Lady Redskins won 3-0, with the scores being 25-8, 25-6, 25-9 over an outmatched Troy Christian squad.

The victory put the Lady Redskins at 16-8 on the season and puts them in the sectional championship game on Saturday against Riverside at 3 p.m. The winner advances to the district championship on Oct. 31 at Troy against either Southeastern or Fairlawn at 3 p.m.

Lady Jets reach

sectional finals

TROY — The Fairlawn Lady Jets advanced to the D-4 sectional finals at Troy with a 3-0 win over Mechanicsburg in semifinal play Wednesday.

The Lady Jets won by just 26-24 in the first game, but then dominated the next two 25-7, 25-15.

Audrey Francis had 17 kills, 20 digs and secen ace serves to lead the Lady Jets.

Chelsie Brautigam had 36 assists and eight digs, Paige Vondenheuvel had 13 kills and 16 digs, and Madison Allison had four aces and eight digs.

The Lady Jets advance to the championship Saturday against No. 2-seeded Southeastern at 5:30, with the winner advancing to the district championship against either Fort Loramie or Riverside.
