FORT LORAMIE — Two Fort Loramie girls will be selected to participate in Buckeye Girls State during the summer of 2016, following action by the Fort Loramie American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 355 during their regular meeting recently.

Hilda Siegel, Norma Siegel and Dorothy Quinlin had attended a fall conference in New Bremen and reported that the Buckeye Girls State fee would rise to $275 per girl this year. Despite the raise in fee, the club voted to send two girls again.

In other buisness, the group:

• Approved sending money to the Flower Fund and a $100 donation to a Fort Loramie Boy Scout in support of his Eagle project to erect a veterans monument in Canal Park.

• Accepted Norma Toller as the club’s new chaplain. She replaces Shirley Simon, who served in the position for many years.

• Heard reports on volunteer recruitment to sew ditty bags for veterans and establishing a drop box in the canteen which could collect items to be provided to veterans.

• Began discussions about a possible raffle that would have round-trip airfare to Cancun or Punta Cana as a top prize, and cash second and third prizes.

The following people won the most recent raffle: Marcia Boerger, $100; Eileen Dapore, $75; Norma Siegel and Sue Eilerman, $50 each; Irene Boerger and Norma Toller, $25 each.
