The win put the Lady Jackets at 21-0 on the season, and they should wrap up a perfect regular season Saturday at home against Greenville. The first time those two teams met, Sidney won by 41 points.

The first part of the game was focused on Sidney senior Sylvia Hudson, who went into the contest needing only three points to become the school’s all-time scoring leader in girls basketball.

It didn’t take long for Tangela Wells’ record of 1,443 points to fall — Hudson scored all 11 Sidney points in the first quarter, which ended 11-8.

Sidney opened it up to 23-11 in the second quarter before allowing the Lady Trojans back in it at 25-18 at the half, but by the end of the third period, the Lady Jackets had pulled away to am 18-point lead, and they turned it into a lopsided with with a big final period.

Celena Taborn, Sidney’s 6-foot-3 junior post player, poured in 28 to lead the Lady Jackets and also pulled down 11 rebounds. Hudson finished with 21, including 7 for 8 at the line.

“A great win for our seniors tonight,” said coach Megan Mummey. “It was one of the best atmospheres I have ever experienced in my five years here. I was so honored with the amount of community support we had tonight. This was a great way for our seniors to go out. I am so excited for Sylvia. She committed to Urbana university today and breaks the all-time scoring record. This is such a great accomplishment.”
