Redskins beat FM for third straight win

FORT LORAMIE — Fresh off back-to-back wins over Anna and Franklin-Monroe, the Fort Loramie Redskins made it three in a row in their only game of the weekend, beating visiting Franklin Monroe 58-45 Saturday night on Senior Night.

The win puts Loramie at 9-11 overall with a County game at Houston Friday.

FM led 12-11 after one but the Redskins went on a 7-2 run to start the second quarter. The Jets reponded with a 5-0 run for a one-point lead, and it looked like they would lead at the half when they scored with 3.2 seconds left for a 26-25 lead.

But Loramie sophomore Dillon Braun hit a step-back three at the buzzer to give Loramie a 28-26 lead at the break. The Redskins then rode that momentum into the third quarter and outscored the Jets 13-4. Tyler Siegel had seven in the quarter and Braun the other six.

Loramie was led by Braun with 19 on the strength of four three-pointers. Siegel had 13 points and six rebounds and Drew Wehrman had 10 points. Evan Berning had five assists to go with seven points.

WAYNESFIELD — Botkins cruised to an easy non-league win Saturday, routing Waynesfield-Goshen 74-35.

The Trojans are 7-12 after their second win in the last three games and play Russia at home Friday.

Luke Bergman had 17 for the Trojans, Chad Bergman 12 and Jacob Roberts 11.

Luke Bergman got the Trojans off to a great start, scoring seven in the first and eight in the second, including three three-pointers. Behind his scoring, the Trojans poured in 43 points before the intermission.

JACKSON CENTER — The Jackson Center Tigers rebounded from a tough league loss Friday to defeat Lima Temple Christian in non-league action Saturday 67-45.

The Tigers are 17-3 and host Anna Friday in a key league matchup.

Jackson sprinted to a 21-10 lead after a quarter and never looked back. Ethan Zorn had a pair of threes and eight points in the first quarter. He finished the game with 15, Brady Wildermuth led the Tigers with 23 and Drew Sosby added 22, including 7 for 7 from the line. As a team, the Tigers were 17 for 20 from the stripe.

JAMESTOWN — Anna went on the road and came away with a lopsided 75-39 win over Greeneview in non-league play Saturday.

The Rockets go to 13-7 overall heading to Jackson Center Friday.

Anna led by 11 at the half, then dominated the final two periods, outscoring the hosts 38-13.

Blake Stephens had 11 to lead the Rockets. Four others had eight or more.

MINSTER — Minster capped off an excellent weekend with a 57-53 victory over visiting St. Marys Saturday night in non-league action.

The win, coming on the heels of a 53-50 win over Coldwater Friday that kept Minster alive in the Midwest Athletic Conference race, put the Wildcats at 12-7 on the year heading into a big league game Friday at Versailles.

Minster had to rally to get past St. Marys Saturday. The Roughriders led by three at the half and still by one after three quarters.

Jacob Stechschulte led the Wildcats with 14 and Bryce Schmiesing and Josh Nixon had 10 apiece. Peter Falk had seven rebounds.

Minster was 22 for 58 from the field for 38 percent compared to St. Marys being 19 for 47, 40 percent.

Avery Powers led the Cards with 15, Tate Myers had 14 and both Kaelen Reed and Deion Hoehne added 10 apiece.
