FORT LORAMIE — Plans for the second annual “Growing Women in Agriculture, an Empowerment Celebration” have been finalized.

The event will be held on Thursday, March 17, at St. Michael’s Hall, 33 Elm St., Fort Loramie, from 6 to 9 p.m. The evening will be a blend of educational and fun agriculture information specifically targeted to the women in the agriculture community. The cost is $20 per person. A portion of the fee will support women in crisis. Registration deadline is March 4 with breakout sessions being filled on a first come first served basis as registrations are received.

The evening will begin with heavy hors d’oeuvres, beer and wine sampling and a social time. The keynote speaker, Rachel Heimerl, will speak on “The Joys and Perils of Working with Family.” Heimerl, a graduate of The Ohio State University, currently works with her husband, Matt, and his family on their farming operation near Johnstown, Ohio, as the office manager.

In addition, attendees will have the opportunity to attend two of these four sessions: “Gardening for Pollinators” by Miami County Master Gardener Yvonne Cecil; “Agriculture’s Story via Social Media” by Hannah Peterson, a Public Relations major at Ohio Northern University; “Canning and Preserving” by Kathy Oliver, a recently retired FSC Extension Educator; or “Food and Wine Pairings” by Amy Forrest, cater for the event and owner of “In Good Taste” catering.
