Granges seek dartball teams

CLYDE — The Ohio Grange Open Class Dartball Tournament will be April 9. This all-Ohio-granges event will be hosted by Knox County, starting at 10 a.m., at the Fredericktown Schools Administration Building, 117 Columbus Road, Fredericktown.

Counties may send as many teams as they wish. The number of teams registered will determine if the tournament is played in a double elimination or round robin format.

Teams may comprise men, women or mixed. Junior grangers are eligible to play if a team is having trouble finding players, but they must be at least 12. Two players on each team can be nonsubordinate grange members. All teams compete in the same division.

Each team should have nine players. For each team with less than seven, an automatic out must be taken. Five is the minimum for a team. Granges and counties may combine to form a team if a shortage of players exists.

Team captains should arrive for a meeting at 9:30 a.m. Awards will be made to the top four finishers.

The entry deadline is March 26. The entry fee is $25, payable to Ohio Grange Dartball, and mail to Richard Hughes, P.O. Box 1012, Tiffin, OH 44883-1012.
