ANNA — Local law enforcement is investigating a threat made at Anna High School/Middle School early Wednesday morning.

Anna Police Chief Scott Evans said students came forward with information about some students making threats of harm at the school. Three high school students were named as suspects and asked to stay home from school Wednesday.

“We took the threat as credible, but at this point it’s all hearsay and we’re trying to sort everything out,” Evans said. “If we confirm the threats, charges will be filed.”

He said they will have a police presence in both the elementary and high school/middle school through the end of the week.

Anna Superintendent Andy Bixler said as a precaution we worked with local law enforcement to ensure the safety of our students and staff. These are precautionary measures and the investigation is ongoing at this time.

The school is operating as normal. Evans said the parents of the named students were cooperative.

Helping Anna Police with this matter were the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, Ohio State Highway Patrol, and Botkins Police.
