Bowlers raise $42,000

SIDNEY — Big Brothers Big Sisters of Shelby and Darke County raised about $42,000 during its recent Bowl For Kids’ Sake event at Bel-Mar Lanes in Sidney and Treaty Lanes in Greenville.

The event was supported by 165 businesses who sponsored, made general donations or donated prizes. There were 358 bowlers comprising 73 teams.

Prizes were awarded based on donations. Participants who raised at least $40 were given event T-shirts; the names of those who raised $50 were entered into a drawing for a $50 Amazon gift card; those who brought in $150 qualified for Big Brothers Big Sisters sweatshirts; entries into the grand prize drawing for $500 or an iPad Mini were given to those who raised at least $300 in donations; and a $50 Kroger gift card for those who donated $500. Prizes also went to the highest- and lowest-scoring bowler and teams and to the teams that were voted to have the best team names.

The grand prize winner was Joe Rizzo, grand prize of $500 or an iPad Mini and the prize for donating the most money, an overnight stay in Cleveland, two tickets to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, a $25 gift card to Cracker Barrel, a $25 Amazon gift card, and a KitchenAid gift bundle and a $50 Kroger gift card. He donated the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame tickets, the KitchenAid gift bundle and the Kroger gift card back to Big Brothers Big Sisters to use for prizes in the upcoming Duck Derby event.
