Miss Ida Amann, buyer for the suit department of Thedieck’s Department Store, has returned from a business trip to Cleveland of several days.

The Yeager Home Bakery has purchased a Ford motor delivery truck.

There has been some talk of the Masons purchasing the Julia A. Lamb homestead for the use of the lodge. There will be a special meeting of Temperance Lodge next Tuesday evening for the express purpose of considering the proposition of the purpose of this property.

75 Years

April 7, 1941

Scoring 255 out of a possible 300, Homer Schamp led Shelby County students in the senior scholarship tests held Mar. 20, according to the announcement made today by the state department of education. Completing the top 10 in the county were: William Milligan, Sidney; Don Thoma, Sidney; Jerry Toy, Sidney; Charles Stengel, Sidney; Betty Bertsch, Sidney; Betty Gossard, Sidney; Kenneth DeBroose, Russia; Helen Kingseed, Sidney, and Mary Van Dine, Sidney.

50 Years

April 7, 1966

Industrial expansion and improvement in Sidney took another step forward Tuesday afternoon with ground-breaking for the new plant of the Everyday Manufacturing Co. The new facilities, which will contain 30,400 square feet of floor space, will be constructed on Campbell Street, just west of Interstate 75.

WAPAKONETA – Arrival time for Neil Armstrong is 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Allen County Airport. The astronaut, center of a celebration for his hometown that day, will be brought to Wapakoneta with an escort. All plans have been approved by NASA. Although Armstrong is a civilian astronaut, the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base marching band will head the parade.

April 7, 1991

Candidates for queen and king at the Russia High School prom scheduled for April 13 are Heather Monnin, 17, Cynthia Schieltz, 17, Amy Timmerman, 17, Scott Armstrong, 18, Jeremy Cordonnier, 18, and Gerald “Jerry” McEldowney, 17.

ANNA – Students at Anna High School will perform the musical “Godspell” Friday and Saturday at 8 pm. In the high school auditorium. Playing some of the key parts will be senior Darrin Ailes as Stephen (Jesus), senior Bradley Pleiman as David (John the Baptist and Judas), and freshman Chad Kohler as Jefferey (Thomas Aquinas).

A former Sidney man has invented clothing to be used when cutting weeds with a power trimmer. William Evilsizor has invented the Weed Eater All. It’s designed to be worn over any kind of clothes to protect the operator of a string trimmer from being pelted with debris when trimming. It will also keep from bringing the clippings into the house afterward. The clothing also protects against ticks and insects.
