Young indicted for ATM robbery

SIDNEY — The man accused of robbing a man at an ATM in March was indicted by a Shelby County Grand Jury on Thursday morning.

Jakob JM Young, 21, at large, was indicted on one count of aggravated robbery, a felony of the first degree. Young was arrested last week for allegedly robbing Randy Evans, 46, of Piqua, with a knife while Evans was making a withdrawal from an ATM machine at the US Bank at 1222 Wapakoneta Ave.

Evans drove up to the ATM around 12:27 a.m. on March 21, and proceeded to make a withdrawal. As the he was finishing his transaction a male subject walked up between his car and the building. The suspect cut Evans with a knife and then demanded the money. The suspect then reached inside of the vehicle and took money from his hand. After taking the money the suspect fled on foot south bound. Evans obtained a minor cut on the chin by the knife during the incident.

According to the police report, Young got away with $60. Artifacts believed used during robbery such as the knife and clothing of concealment were recovered during Young’s arrest.

Young is incarcerated at the Shelby County Jail on a cash or surety bond of $100,091. His arraignment is set for April 15, at 10 a.m.
