Police charge woman in robberies

SIDNEY — A Sidney woman was arrested after she attempted to rob two local stores.

According to the Sidney Police, Misty M. Swineford, 42, 3576 Wapakoneta Ave., Apt. 103, has been charged with two counts of robbery, both third degree felonies.

On Tuesday, April 19, at approximately 8:20 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of the Family Dollar Store, 1024 Wapakoneta Ave. in regards to an attempted robbery by a female subject, who is allegedly Swineford, who told the clerk she had a gun in her purse and demanded money. She left Family Dollar without gaining money and walked into Sidney Foodtown.

The Family Dollar clerk followed the suspect to Sidney Foodtown and told the suspect the police had been called. The suspect left Sidney Foodtown and got into a gold colored Sebring vehicle and drove off northbound on Wapakoneta Avenue. A license plate number was obtained.

Shortly after police units arrive at Family Dollar another call was received to the dispatch center that a second robbery had just been committed at the Speedway Station located at 1501 St. Marys Ave. The description provided by the Speedway clerk was that of the same of the suspect at the Family Dollar.

Responding units were close by and observed the suspect vehicle travelling southbound down St. Marys Avenue near ODOT. A short, low speed pursuit ensued down side streets in the areas of West Avenue, North Street and Maple Street. An attempt was made to stop stick the vehicle to end the pursuit however the attempt was unsuccessful. The operator of the vehicle surrendered to police pulling over on West Avenue, just south of Beech Street.

Swineford is incarcerated at the Shelby County Jail. Recovered from the Swineford was money — just under $300 — believed to be taken during the Speedway robbery. No firearm was located.
