Boyd pitches Anna over Lehman

ANNA — Anna got an excellent pitching performance from Drew Boyd won the battle of the No. 1s Tuesday, beating the Lehman Cavaliers 7-1.

Anna entered the game as the top-ranked team in Division 3 in the latest Miami Valley Coaches Poll, and Lehman was No. 1 in the D-4 poll.

Anna goes to 16-1-1 overall and the Cavaliers are now 16-2.

Boyd allowed the Cavaliers just three hits while striking out five.

“Drew did a great job for us tonight,” said Anna head coach Kristian Althauser. “He threw strikes and let his defense take care of the rest.”

The Rockets plated two in the bottom of the first, then added three in the fourth for a 5-0 lead. After Lehman scored a run in the fifth, Anna added two insurance runs in the sixth to ice it.

Colin Wuebker was 2 for 4 for Anna, with a double. Kain Luthman also doubled and Luke Albers scored two runs.

Sidney 8, Greenville 7

SIDNEY — Sidney scored a run in the bottom of the seventh to edge Greenville 8-7 and snap an 8-game losing streak in Greater Western Ohio Conference North baseball action at Sidney Tuesday.

The Jackets go to 7-17 overall and 3-7 in the North with the win. Greenville is now 10-13 overall and 5-5 in the North.

Sidney led 6-5 after four innings, but Greenville scored twice in the fifth to take the lead. Sidney came back with a run in the fifth, then scored the winning run in the last of the seventh.

Dillon King led a 13-hit barrage by the Jackets with three singles. Austin McLain, Conor Beer and Cole Hofmann all had two hits apiece. One of Hofmann’s was a triple and Austin Freisthler had a double.

Freisthler, King and Hofmann all drove in two runs, and Damien Duff and King both scored twice.

FL 3, Brookville 0

BROOKVILLE — Fort Loramie made the long trip to Broookville and made it pay off, beating Brookville 3-0 in non-league play.

The Redskins go to 14-6 on the year.

Drew Wehrman had a good day, pitching a three-hitter and also getting two hits, including a double. Travis Hilegefort also singled and doubled.

“Drew pitched well,” said Loramie coach Bill Sturwold. “He only struck out two but we played real clean behind him.”

Houston 10, Botkins 4

BOTKINS — Houston scored four in the first and went on to beat Botkins 10-4 in County baseball Tuesday.

Houston is now 12-10 and Botkins 9-10.

For Houston, Isaiah Beaver was 3 for 5 with a double and Andrew Miller had a double.

Luke Bergman was 3 for 4 for the Trojans and Todd Tschuor had a double.

Riverside 10, JC 0

DEGRAFF — Riverside blanked Jackson Center 10-0 in non-league action Tuesday on a no-hitter by the Pirates’ Trey Lane.

The Pirates are now 18-3 and Jackson 2-11.

Lane struck out five and didn’t walk anyone. He also had three hits and drove in four runs. Caleb Stevens had two doubles and Hunter Kreglow one.
