Shelby County EMS looking for volunteers

0

SIDNEY — The Anna, Fort Loramie, Houston, Minster, Perry-Port-Salem, and Quincy rescue squads are in need of volunteers. Without additional volunteers, they can not respond to 911 calls.

Shelby County EMS will train you. There is no experience necessary to become an emergency responder. New members undergo an orientation program designed to acquaint a person to EMS operation and equipment. In addition, all new members receive basic training in first aid, professional rescuer CPR and automated external defibrillation. Trainees then ride on the ambulance as a vital part of the ambulance crew to gain field training experience.

Scheduling is flexible, allowing for members to pick hours and shifts that are convenient for them, day or night, during the week and/or on weekends. Many of our members do manage to volunteer for other community organizations while still giving time as an emergency responder.

There will be a volunteer recruitment drive at Menards in Sidney on Saturday May 14 from 1 to 3 p.m. CareFlight will be there at 2 p.m.

For more information call Yvonne Brown at 937-538-1802 or some out to the event next Saturday.
