Minster teams off to good starts

FORT RECOVERY — The Minster High School track teams appear well on their way to Midwest Athletic Conference championships after the prelims and the finals in the field events and the 3200 relay.

Minster’s girls have 70.5 points to 42 for second-place Versailles, and the Minster boys had 62.5 to 31 for St. Henry.

In the girls finals, Minster won the 3200 relay in 9:37.63 with the foursome of Cassie Francis, Madeline Magoto, Julia Slonkosky and Kaci Bornhorst. New Bremen was second in 9:51.46.

Also, Minster’s Jordyn Heitbrink won the high jump at 5-2 and teammate Savanah Luthman won the shot put with a distance of 39-8. Teammate Cortney Thien was second.

Lindsey Didier of Versailes won the discus with a 102-6 distance, with Paige Kuck of New Bremen second and Luthman of Minster third.

And Jenna Frantz, also of Versailles, won the pole vault as expected, clearing the bar at 12-1. Celeste Kuck of New Bremen was second.

In the boys finals, Versailles won the 3200 relay in 8:23.07 with the team of Trevor Noggle, Noah Pleiman, Brooks Blakeley and Joe Spitzer. Minster was second in 8:28.86.

Minster also got a win from Tony Winner in the shot put with a heave of 47-0.5.

New Bremen’s Logan Dicke won the discus at 135-7, with Max Prenger of Minster second.

The rest of the finals will be held Friday.

Discus — Logan Dicke, New Bremen, 135-7.

GIRLS

High jump — Jordyn Heitbrink, Minster, 5-2.

Pole vault — Jenna Frantz, Versailles, 12-1.

Long jump — Sydney Crouch, Parkway, 17-1.5.

Shot put — Savanah Luthman, Minster, 39-8.

Discus — Lindsey Didier, Versailles, 102-6
