ANNA — The top-seeded Anna Rockets rolled to an easy win in their first Division 3 Sectional Tournament game Thursday, run-ruling the Dixie Greyhounds in five innings 13-0.

The win put the Rockets at 20-1-1 on the season and advanced them to the sectional finals next Wednesday at 5 p.m. at Northmont against Greenon, which is in the finals despite being the No. 15 seed.

The Rockets took a 3-0 lead in the first, and after a scoreless second inning, tacked on nine more runs in the third.

Alex Brinkman went all five innings and finished with a no-hitter, with 12 of the 15 outs coming by strikeout.

Luke Albers was 3 for 3 with a double, a home run, three runs scored and five runs batted in, Kain Luthman singled, homered, scored three times and drove in three, Derek Coverstone singled, tripled and drove in two, Aiden Endsley was 2 for 3 with two doubles, and Colin Wuebker and Nathan Frilling both scored twice.

Versailles 12, Greeneview 0

VERSAILLES — Versailles also had an easy time in its sectional opener, beating Greeneview 12-0 in five innings.

The Tigers, the No. 2 seed behind Anna, are now 17-4 and take on No. 4 seed Arcanum in the sectional finals Wednesday at Carlisle High School at 5 p.m.

Russia 15, Fairlawn 2

RUSSIA — Russia rolled to a 15-2 win over Fairlawn in County baseball action Thursday.

The Raiders are now 15-8 on the year.

Connor Monnin, Jake Gariety, Jared Goubeaux, Dylan Cordonnier and Kevin Drees all had two hits apiece for Russia. Hunter Cohee drove in three runs and Drew and Zack Sherman two apiece.

Jonah Counts, Gariety, Monnin and D. Sherman all had doubles for Russia and Kyle Noble doubled for the Jets.

Fort Recovery 2, Bremen 0

FORT RECOVERY — New Bremen gave top-seeded Fort Recovery all it could handle Wednesday night in Division 4 Sectional play at Fort Recovery, but came up short in a 2-0 verdict.

Recovery now advances to the district semifinals Wednesday against St. Henry at Coldwater.

The Indians scored a run in the first, but didn’t get to Deion Hoehne until the sixth, when they added an insurance run.

Hoehne went the distance for the Cardinals and scattered five hits while striking out two.

Fort Recovery’s Jackson Hobbs blanked the Cardinals on five hits, three of them from Darrin Hays, including a double. Greg Parker also had a double for Bremen.
