City reports 222 EMS, 67 fire calls in April

SIDNEY – In April, personnel of the Sidney Department of Fire & Emergency Services responded to 222 EMS calls and 67 fire calls for a total of 289 calls compared to 286 calls in April 2015.

In a fatal house fire on April 21, two civilians were treated for smoke inhalation and two succumbed to the smoke and heat.

Personnel conducted in-house fireground operations, pump operations, fireground communications, ladder training, Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) training, and Rapid Intervention Teams (RIT) training with members of the Lockington Fire Department. Swiftwater training was conducted with the Piqua Fire Department. Ten personnel attended the annual Midwestern Ohio Fire Investigators Seminar.

The Fire Prevention Division performed eight inspections including a final occupancy, fire alarm, and fire protection inspections. A special inspection was conducted at Krogers.

Fire Investigations were conducted at 520 Arrowhead Drive and 519 W. North St.
