Botkins council passes final zoning ordinance for subdivision

BOTKINS — After a brief public hearing Tuesday night, the Botkins Village Council passed the final zoning ordinance for the new subdivision.

The zoning will be R-2, meaning most of the homes built there will be single family homes, but condominiums will be allowed as well. None of the units will be allowed to be rented out.

The council also read for the first time an ordinance extension into the new subdivision territory which allows the village to give tax incentives for construction or additions. So in addition to annexing the territory into the village they have to annex it into their program.

There is still a need to establish an Income Tax Review Board. It will be a three member board, two members appointed by council, and one by the administrator. The board will meet infrequently. In the last ten years they have only met on one case. The members will serve a two-year term.

At the Annual Council Breakfast at Botkins Carousel brought in $968 for the Botkins Historical Society.
