Suspected meth operation discovered

SIDNEY — A lead about the theft of a credit card led to the discovery of a suspected meth operation in a residence in Sidney.

Richard V. Hensley, 38, was arrested and charged with illegal assembly/possession of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs and illegal manufacture of drugs, both 2nd degree felonies.

According to the Sidney Police Department, on Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at approximately 1:15 officers were investigating a theft of a credit card. The investigation led officers to 221 ½ N. West Ave. in the city of Sidney.

During the investigation Sidney Police Officers observed several items used to cook methamphetamine. The residence was secured by officers while the Sidney Narcotics Unit obtained a search warrant. As a result of the search warrant Officers recovered several ingredients and tools used to cook methamphetamine, along with other drug paraphilia.

Hensley is incarcerated in the Shelby County Jail. He appeared in Sidney Municipal Court Wednesday morning where his case was bound over to common pleas and a preliminary hearing was set for July 1, at 10:30 a.m.
