Sidney man indicted for meth operation

SIDNEY — The Shelby County grand jury handed up an indictment Thursday for the man accused of having a meth operation in his residence.

Richard V. Hensley, 38, was arrested Tuesday after Sidney Police Officers were investigating a theft of a credit card which led them to 221 ½ N. West Ave. in the city of Sidney.

During the investigation Sidney Police Officers observed several items used to cook methamphetamine. The residence was secured by officers while the Sidney Narcotics Unit obtained a search warrant. As a result of the search warrant Officers recovered several ingredients and tools used to cook methamphetamine, along with other drug paraphernalia.

Hensley was indicted on one count of illegal manufacture of drugs, a felony of the second-degree, one count of illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for manufacture of drugs, a felony of the third-degree, and one count of tampering with evidence, a felony of the third-degree.

Hensley is being held in the Shelby County Jail on a $50,000 cash or surety bond.

Also indicted were:

• Karin Barga, 42, of Sidney, on one count of theft, a felony of the second degree. According to the indictment she is accused of stealing gold and silver coins from an elderly person on Pasco-Montra Road, Botkins, in an amount exceeding $37,500, but less than $150,000. She is being held in the Shelby County Jail on a $15,000 cash or surety bond.

• Danny Bryant II, 36, at large, on two counts of possession of drugs, and one count of possessing criminal tools, all felonies of the fifth-degree. According to the indictment he is accused of possessing Fentanyl, cocaine, a plastic baggie, gel capsules, and a syringe. He is currently being held in the Shelby County Jail.

• Donald Crawford Sr., 41, of Sidney, on one count of possession of drugs, two counts of possessing criminal tools (one drug related and one burglary related), one count of attempted burglary, all felonies of the fifth-degree, and one count of driving under suspension, a first-degree misdemeanor. According to the indictment on the drug charges he is accused of possessing Fentanyl, a plastic baggie, gel capsules, and a syringe. On the burglary charges he is accused of attempting to break into a residence on North Street in Sidney and possessing a hammer, crowbar, screwdrivers, hatchet, and gloves. He is currently being held in the Shelby County Jail on a $2,500 cash or surety bond.

• Che Riegel, 40, of Sidney, on one count of burglary, a felony of the second-degree, one count of grand theft auto, a felony of the fourth-degree, and one count of possession of drugs, and one count of possessing criminal tools, both felonies of the fifth-degree. He is accused of entering a residence on Hall Avenue, stealing a 2010 Ford Fusion, and possessing cocaine, and a Dr. Pepper soda can used for abusing crack cocaine. He is currently being held in the Shelby County Jail on a $15,000 cash or surety bond.

They are all scheduled to be arraigned in common pleas court on July 7 at 10 a.m.
