COLUMBUS — The Ohio Development Services Agency awarded grants totaling more than $11.6 million through the Community Development Critical Infrastructure, Downtown Revitalization and Neighborhood Revitalization Competitive Set-Aside programs.

Thirty-three communities across Ohio will receive grants to revitalize neighborhoods and downtown business districts. The grants will improve streets, sidewalks, bridges, public facilities, and infrastructure as well as rehabilitate buildings in a community’s Central Business District.

Locally, Shelby County will receive a $500,000 Neighborhood Revitalization grant to help the village of Jackson Center create nine athletic fields, construct a new 838 square foot parking lot, and pave a 1,500 linear foot walkway that surrounds the fields. The project will also include street repaving, waterline replacement, sidewalks, curbs, and storm sewer installation, and relocating a utility pole. The project will benefit 1,369 people.

Logan County will receive a $500,000 Neighborhood Revitalization grant to help the village of DeGraff install curbing, catch basins and storm drains along Main Street. The project will also reconstruct part of Bogg Street, including adding new drainage and utility lines. The project will repave 3,900 linear feet of roadway along multiple streets within the village, upgrade the waste water treatment plant, install new playground equipment, replace roofing on two shelter houses, add 17,700 square feet of parking at the local park, and demolish one blighted property. The project will benefit 1,145 people.
