Barr updates Kiwanians

SIDNEY — Scott Barr, executive director of the Shelby County United Way updated the Sidney Kiwanis Club on United Way initiatives during a recent weekly meeting of the club.

“The goal for this year’s campaign is $1,325,000, which is the same goal as last year,” said Barr.

He discussed the Imagination Library, which provides books to youth in the community and 2-1-1 program, which the United Way will begin in Shelby County in February. It is a free and confidential service that helps people find local resources they need.

Jenny Bruns announced that the club would have its annual Thanksgiving lunch with the Sidney High School Key club, at the school, Nov. 16. John Coffield reported that on the evening of Nov. 16, the Sidney Kiwanis Club will host Ohio District Kiwanis Governor Bill Flinta. This will be a joint meeting of all clubs in divisions 2 and 3.

Jessica Guillozet updated the members on the Little Free Library. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was Oct. 14 at the Salvation Army. This is the location of the Little Free Library. This is a joint project of Kiwanis, the SHS Key Club and the Shelby County Aktion club.
