It would interest everyone to know how many errors were found in the 23 ballot boxes of the county on Tuesday. The number will probably never be known. Tickets that were not marked by electros were numerous – a single ward in Sidney having 16. The ballots were sealed and delivered to the clerk of courts. Unless there shall be a contest for an office, the clerk will not examine the puzzle tickets. He will keep them for a year and then destroy them.

Reports received from the various voting precincts throughout Shelby County this afternoon indicate that the largest vote ever cast in the history of the county will be polled. The voters came out early and it was estimated that two-thirds of the entire vote had been cast.

The results of the election will be received at various places about the city this evening and the results ought to be definitely known before 10 o’clock as far as the Presidency and the Governorship are concerned. Democrats will receive the returns at their headquarters in the Wagner Hotel Block and the Republicans in their club rooms in the six story Oldham Building.

Through the generosity of a former Sidney resident, Wilson Memorial Hospital has now available a piece of equipment for which there has been considerable need in the community. Dr. Otto Fisher of Detroit, Michigan has presented to the board of trustees funds for the purchase of the newest type of gas machine. It will replace one that has been in use since the hospital was first opened. The gift is being made in not only Dr. Fisher’s name, but also in the names of his brothers and sisters.

The recent weather will make Mr. and Mrs. Jacque Frantz think more strongly of a vacation to Hawaii sometime in the future. But, perhaps the clincher for such a dream for the local couple was the winning ticket, produced during the Sidney Jaycees annual Hawaiian banquet at Avon Lake on Sunday night.

Frantz’ ticket withstood the element of chance to emerge as the winner of $1,000 or a trip for two to Honolulu. The Frantzs’ will have to hold up on the trip. They are awaiting the arrival of a new member of the family.
