SIDNEY — More than 8,000 Shelby and Logan county homes have their power back on following an outage which lasted less than 90 minutes Wednesday morning.

According to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, areas within the county without power are Anna, Botkins and Jackson Center. The outage also includes residences in Logan County, specifically the Indian Lake area.

“A transmission line is down on Mason Road on the west side of Interstate 75 in Shelby County,” said Kelly Millhouse, DP&L director of operations. “We have crews isolating the problem right now.”

At 8:20 a.m., Mary Ann Kabel, direcgtor of corporate communications for DP&L reported all the power had been restored in the two-county area.

The cause of the transmission line going down isn’t known at this time, said Millhouse.

“We believe it’s (outage) transmission related,” said Kabel.

The outage occurred at 6:55 a.m.

“Customers called in from Logan and Shelby counties letting us know there was an outage,” said Millhouse.

Because of the outage, Indian Lake Schools has closed for the day.
