House catches fire early Friday morning near Botkins

BOTKINS — A Botkins residence sustained substantial damage during a house fire early Friday morning.

Botkins Fire Department, Anna Rescue and Fire Department, Jackson Center Fire Department, Van Buren Township Fire Department and Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to 15100 County Road 25A in Dinsmore Township upon the report of a chimney fire at 4:02 a.m.

Botkins Fire Department was dispatched to the home again later at 11:59 a.m. when smoke was reportedly still coming out of the house.

The fire is believed to have started in the chimney.

The Northern Miami Valley Ohio Chapter of the American Red Cross is assisting the displaced family.

Botkins firefighters continue to work on the scene of the house fire around noon Friday, Dec. 9. The house is located on County Road 25A near its intersection with Fey Road.
