To the editor:

Several times this Christmas season I have had the privilege to man the kettle for the Salvation Army. During these sessions, I have been blessed by many.

A wonderful young girl gave me a drawing and said, “I made this for you.”

A wonderful young woman brought a cup of warm coffee.

A kindly gentleman arrived with a mug of hot chocolate.

In Matthew 16:27, Jesus comments, “For the Son of Man is going to come in the glory of His Father with his angels, and will then repay every man according to his deeds.” If the three individuals mentions above are reading this, you are truly the kind of souls of which Jesus speaks. I thank you, as well.

I would also like to thank my wife, Priscilla, and my sister, Gretchen, for helping. And if you, the readers of this letter are looking for a way to “give back,” please consider volunteering a few hours to “ring the bell” for the Salvation Army.
