Leaping into a new year

Leaping into Lake Loramie Sunday, Jan. 1, are, left to right, Mike Willig, of Cincinnati, Ambrose Dobrozsi, of St. Marys, and the Rev. Ethan Moore, of Dayton. This is the 10th annual Loramie Leap. According to Moore who organizes the jump, “The leap brings men and women together from all over the Archdiocese of Cincinnati consecrating the new year to the Mother of God by plunging into the water of ‘God’s country.’” Eight men jumped into the water this year. There was a thin layer of ice which was easily broken before the jump.
