Fair board raises select fees

SIDNEY — The Shelby County Agricultural Society voted during its Dec. 21 meeting to raise select fees for the 2017 Shelby County Fair.

Charges for some electric hookups, camping and water hookups will go up as follows:

• Electric hookup for local food stands rises to $300 from 2016’s $200.

• Midway food vendors using 30 amps of electricity or less will pay fees of $100 each; those using more than 30 amps, $125.

• Hookups on the Thursday before the fair opens will cost $100.

• Electric hookups in the Beige Building will be $400, an increase of $100. In the livestock complex, the fees will increase by $50: The fee for the first day will be $800 and for the second day, $400.

• Camping fees increase from $185 to $200. The additional monies will be earmarked for campgroun electrical repairs and improvements.

• Water hookups double, rising from $50 to $100.

In other business, the fair board approved a measure to put out for bid plans for a chicken and rabbit building project.

Greg Simpson, of the Ohio State Fair board gave a presentation about fundraising and his duties on the state fair board.

The following people were named to serve on the Social Media Committee: Jake Yinger, Bill Clark, Eric Garber, Tyler Geise.

The following people were named to serve on the 5 to 20-Year Planning Committee: Aaron Heilers, James Bensman, Scott Bertsch, Bill Clark and all members of the Executive Committee.

The board heard a report that six firms had sent representatives to a pre-bid meeting concerning the grandstand project. Bids were to be opened Dec. 22.
